art yarn spinning workshop

spin workshop

Last weekend I went to Dordrecht for this awesome spinning workshop to learn the techniques for spinning art yarn. I didn’t make many pictures. This one shows a nice overview and you can see Jacey (insubordiknit) at the far end behind her Lendrum wheel.
It was so great being able to work with fibers all weekend, spinning, learning new techniques, talking, laughing and listening to Jacey’s stories. And guess what, she is homeschooling as well:-) I came back home tired and inspired and even more desperate looking for a new wheel. There were many different wheels, so I had the opportunity to try some, even a Ladybug (one of my favorites) and a brand new Hopper, but I still do not now which one to choose… I also love the Lendrum wheel, but I am not alone and the builder is, so there even is a two year waiting list for that one!
A whole weekend spinning, full time, that was intensive! So I am happy I could buy a dvd so I can check and look back at home. I was able to pay her in dollars, because after 11 years I finally had a purpose for the 50$ I once got as a Christmas present at work. I worked at an American enterprise at the time.
After the weekend the weather changed and I was able to work in my garden again and this hard work combined with a whole weekend spinning was something my wrist did not like, it hurts and is thick so I do not dare to spin right now, so no practicing yet….
